Except for a GPS desert highway mis-direct with a road-closing accident that caused our drive home to go from 7 1/2 hours to 11 hours, we had a terrific time in Queen Creek, Arizona at the Hedgehog Hustle stock trial. Great venue, top notch hospitality, camaraderie, support and of course, Retro doing what he loves, made for lasting memories. We even caught up with Cameron Leopold, Retro's co-breeder, who came from Texas to visit and trial his dog. Retro earned qualifying scores in 16 of 18 runs, including High Score Ducks with a 117 and High Combined Ducks in the Friday trial.
Thank you to judges Steve Shope, Gail Winnick, Jamie Burns and Neal Deshazo for your time and expertise. As always, big kudos to Kirsten Cole who brings out the best in Retro despite MANY distractions. Big thanks to Arizona Working Aussies – couldn’t do it without you!

Not even a flat tire on the way home could spoil the success and fun we had at the Farm/Arena trials in Gardnerville, California, hosted by NNASC. Retro had qualifying scores in all 19 runs with multiple placements including 3 firsts and a High Combined Cattle award in Saturday’s arena trial. He also earned his AFTD-Xs title (pending). As always, huge thanks to Kirsten Cole for her expert handling!

We had so much fun being with travel buddies Skyline (Retro's BFF) and her owner Jennifer Malaret, stopping for park play on the way, first experiences with snow and nightly walk/runs at new locations around Gardnerville. Our buckle bunny photo above was a long-awaited event. Partner in crime!
Gratitude to judges Brad Warren and Nate Bake and to the Northern Nevada Australian Shepherd Club volunteers for the efficient and well-run trial. Friends, new faces, camaraderie, new experiences (snowplay!) and beautiful surroundings made for a great five days. Blessed!

Great day in Escondido at the Pomerado ASC show for Regalo’s Back to the Future, “Retro”. He earned Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best Opposite under AKC judge Elaine Goto-Tamae for a 3-point major. He was RWD under AKC judge Michelle Mixen at the second show. A tribute to his dad, Wizard, on this Father’s Day.

Sitting at the computer and a post comes across FB from our Australian Shepherd Club of America regarding the upcoming national speciality - and look who they used as the attention-getting Aussie! Retro is famous!
What a stellar day for Retro and me at the TCASWA agility trial in Huntington Beach!! Saturday was a day of challenging courses and many missed opportunities but it came together Sunday for 5 qualifying scores out of 5 runs including first places in Elite Regular (new title) and Open Gamble and placements in Elite Jumpers (new title).

Always fun in Williams, AZ at a most beautiful spot, the Double M Ranch, for the NAASA stock dog trial. This was a trial of gathering and I'm not talking stock!
Thanks to the expert handling of Kirsten Cole, Retro gathered Q's in 11 of 14 runs (including three 2nds), participated in his first-ever Post Advance trial (so exciting, SO challenging and he got a Q!!) and accrued finals points.
Thanks to the Wisecarver family, NAASA members, volunteers and stock setters for a well-run trial at this magical venue. Thanks as well as our judges, Brad Warren and John Knepper, for their patience and expertise!
I gathered many memories with my best friend and companion - distant thunder, guardian dogs chasing off a coyote, mountain lion crossing the road (!!), pond swimming with friends, deer in our backyard, laughter and high-fives, puffy white clouds, baby horses in the meadow, dusty and unrecognizable Retro and NO flat tires on the way home! Thank you Buddy!!!
